Lava Show | Reykjavík (Facebook)
Feb 8: The volcanic situation in Iceland is taking a turn to the worse, disrupting the hot water supply.
While all people have been evacuated and everyone is safe, just four hours after the eruption started in the early morning of February 8, a single stream of lava heded directly towards Svartsengi. It didn’t take long for the lava to overflow the road to Grindavík and the Blue Lagoon but more importantly, it went over the very important water pipe that provides the entire Reykjanes peninsula with hot water.
This means that now, we have about 40.000 people, without hot water, which is Iceland’s main way to warm up our houses, and with the freezing conditions in Iceland right now, the extreme cold could render the houses damaged if the hot water pipe won’t be fixed very fast.
