HOW THE BRAIN WORKS
The brain is made up of neurons. For every thought (vague or concrete), a neuron fires.
Neurons are fired for every sense of taste, sight, touch, smell or hearing.
No neuron fires in seclusion. As we grow, neurons connect as we experience more and know more.
For instance, to a child who is born, there is no correlation between the word "C.A.T" and the actual animal.
At the sight of the word "Cat" a neuron is fired but this neuron is vague because it is not yet interconnected with another neuron.
So what is done in pre-school is a connection of neurons.
The instructor says, "C for CAT" and shows them the picture of a cat. All of a sudden, there is a connection.. The neuron that connects with the word "C.A.T" all of a sudden connects with the image of the pet building a stronger link..
(To those interested in AI technology, this is a clue)
At the mention or remembrance of the word, "cat" three neurons (not one) are fired because of the new neural link/connection. This one is stronger.
First connection is the word C.A.T written, second is the word "cat" heard and third is the picture of a cat seen.
When the child comes across a cat in reality, the brain searches its memory and withdraws three files (sight, sound and audio). But still wonders what to make of it since one neuropath is yet to forge - Touch.
This is why kids touch things a lot. They touch with their hands or with their mouth. The child picks and hugs the cat.
It feels warmth, cuddly and comfortable. A new connection is formed - touch.
So four neurons fire now now at the memory of the word "cat".
A new experience forges a new connection, constantly increasing the strength of those ideas and thoughts ; whether concrete or vague.
How does this relate to life? Well the body of man is not just a covering for man. It is also alive.. It can think for itself by what it learns. It is advanced AI that can even be independent of you. Your work is not to starve it into submission but to master it.
