Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s office saw staff pay nearly triple to Ksh 230.86 million in the three months leading up to his impeachment in October 2024, according to the Controller of Budget.
Spending on motor vehicle maintenance surged over 15 times to Ksh 25.87 million, while fuel, utilities, and hospitality bills also rose sharply, pushing recurrent expenditure to Ksh 425.87 million (up 61.5% from the same period in 2023) despite slashed budget allocations in July.
