A police report says the deceased had sought the services of a motorbike rider from Likoni Primary to Vyemani Grounds but resorted to staging a drama when asked to settle the trip's fare.
The KDF officer is said to have pulled an AK-47 rifle from his bag, cocked it, and fired several times in the air in a bid to intimidate the rider, a police report says. It is further reported that a struggle ensued and the officer attempted to flee the scene using the rider's motorcycle.
He was cornered by members of the public who, upon hearing the rider's side of the story, attacked the military officer, pelting him with stones to death.
Two people were accidentally hit by stray bullets during the incident, while the rider’s nose was bitten by the deceased.
The suspect's body has been taken to Coast General Mortuary for identification and a post-mortem while the injured are recuperating at the Likoni Sub-County Hospital.
Investigation officers who visited the scene recovered the rifle, 12 rounds of ammunition, a motorcycle, a mobile phone, and four spent cartridges, which have been kept as exhibits.
