This year in Web Summit Qatar, I saw many startups but couldn't meet with all of them. Our young analyst and research assistant, Ismatov Shahzod, gathered them into a data room for the prompt screening. Here are the insights:
There were 1012 startups among exhibitors, from 80 countries, top 5 countries by number:
1. UAE - 118
2. Turkiye - 96
3. Qatar - 95
4. UK - 76
5. USA - 72
and
Top 5 verticals:
1. Fintech&Financial services 12,2%
2. AI&Machine learning 11,5%
3. SaaS - 10,8%
4. Health Tech & Wellness 7,6%
5. Education 7,4%
It is better to attend large summits to develop pipeline for screening.
The MENA region is actively allocating capital and implementing policies to support tech startups, attracting more talent driven by financial opportunities.
Web Summit - Lisbon will be more interesting with European startups.
