Ethiopian Yomif Kejelcha set a world record in the half marathon, running 21.1 km in 56 minutes and 51 seconds, according to media reports.
He improved on the official record set by Ugandan Jacob Kiplimo by 29 seconds. Kiplimo had previously run an even faster time, but that result was not ratified due to the course conditions.
The 29-year-old Kejelcha also holds the world record in the 10-kilometer race.
