Jewish strength is not only the ability to survive those who tried to destroy us.

It is the ability to survive without becoming them.

Nor are Jews born more intelligent than others. We possess no secret gene or magical brain.

But history taught us that we could never afford to be complacent. When a people is persecuted, expelled, robbed, and repeatedly forced to begin again, it learns to adapt, study, create, and rebuild.

Education became a possession no government could confiscate, and knowledge became the one suitcase we could carry wherever we were forced to go.

Suffering did not make us perfect.

It made us resilient.

Perhaps what bothers some antisemites is not that Jews failed, but that we refused to disappear.

We are less than one quarter of one percent of humanity, approximately two people out of every thousand. Yet this tiny people survived empires, expulsions, pogroms, and genocide, returned to its ancestral homeland, built a thriving country, and continued contributing far beyond its size.

So if you genuinely want to boycott everything touched, developed, or influenced by Jews, good luck.

Return Barbie and the teddy bear. Switch off the game console. Put down the remote. Abandon the shopping cart and the USB drive. Close the computer, turn off the television, and put away the phone.

And whatever you do, do not swallow the Israeli camera.

You may eventually find yourself sitting alone in the dark, still trying to post an antisemitic comment.

Unfortunately, you may no longer have a device on which to write it.

Hatred is an extraordinary waste of energy. Instead of resenting Jewish achievement, learn from it. Instead of trying to erase our success, create your own.

Because the harder you try to remove Jews from your world, the more you will discover just how much of your world has already been shaped by us.
