4. Write Freely and Sloppily:

The goal is not to write perfectly but to express vividly. Don't worry about grammar, structure, or coherence. Let your descriptions flow freely, focusing on how the senses contribute to the experience.

5. Send Your Flash to FlashGPT for analysis - You Can Use This Link

You can write your Flash directly into FlashGPT

You can write on paper and take a picture with your phone and send it to FlashGPT to analyse (make sure your handwriting is ok haha)

You can even record a voice message doing it and send it in (though OpenAi may make that a paid ChatGPT feature)

You can write in ANY language and FlashGPT will decode it

Once you send it in, FlashGPT will analyse the piece and point out where you´re using sense based langauge well, and where you are screwing up

It will grade how well you are doing this and suggest ways you can improve the quality of your Flashes

(This tools is a work in progress, so it may be weird from time to time, but its quite good at giving analytic feedback on sensory language)

How EXACTLY Do I Do The Flash?

The Flash exercise is a creative writing practice designed to enhance your sensory description skills

1. Choose an Object Start by selecting a random object around you; a slipper, shoe, hat, bracelet… anything

LET YOUR MIND FREE ASSOCIATE BASED ON THIS OBJECT

Ask yourself what this reminds you of, it should stimulate a specific memory. This could be anything from looking at a childhood toy, a scene from a vacation, a meal you had, to a moment with a loved one.

IT WON´T ALWAYS BE DIRECTLY RELATED TO THE OBJECT

For example, a slipper on your floor may remind you of the christmas fireplace at your grandpas house… and so a scene from your past on christmas eve flashes through your mind´s eye… That scene is what you must try “grab” and describe with sensory words

2. Set the FlashGPT Timer for 10 Minutes - You Can Use This Link

The exercise is meant to be short and focused.

Set the FlashGPT timer for 10 minutes

Do NO MORE or NO LESS than 10 minutes

Think of it like meditation or weightlifting

Do it as intense as you can for a short period of time - that´s where all the benefits come from - get DEEP into your imagination without distraction - it should feel like a flow state

3. Describe Your Memory Only Using Sensory Language:


This is critical and where all the magic happens

Focus on describing your Flash using words and phrases that evoke your senses – sight, sound, touch, taste, and smell.

- Sight: What colors, shapes, or visual details do you see?
- Sound: Are there any noises, music, or silence?
- Touch: What textures or temperatures can you feel?
- Taste: If applicable, what flavors or tastes are present?
- Smell: Are there any distinct scents or odors?
- Kinesthetic: Describe any feelings of movement or physical sensations in the body.

This is a 10 Minute meditation exercise that will reignite your imagination, make you a wicked storyteller, and teach you how to switch on flow state

Below I have an Introduction Video and 5 step breakdown to help you do the Flash

I am building an App to help you do this habit daily: The beginnings of that is a ChatGPT Bot you can use that will give you direct feedback on your writing

NOTE: This will not work for now unless you have the updated version of ChatGPT, so for now try do the exercise yourself with a timer and paper
