The Bible tells us time and time again to be thankful at all times. As Thanksgiving is less than a week away remember that God's plan isn't for us to be thankful merely when things are good, when we get that promotion, or when life deals us a pair of Aces. But, when times are rough, the future is unsure, and the chips are down - this is when we are to be thankful as well. Simply knowing and cherishing that the God of the Universe has invested in my eternal security should change our perspective.
