The Volunteers of Légion des volontaires français contre le bolchévisme, later SS Charlegmane stated Anti-Communism and their Catholic Faith as reasons for joining. On 23. July 1944 SS Charlegmane was officially founded. The Commander of the new founded Division was SS Major General Dr. Gustav Kruckenberg (Picture 2), the Major General requested several points, among other things : to respect to a large extent, the religious Sentiments of the French Volunteers. Implying the importance of the Catholic Faith for the French Volunteers.
