📚 FINDING and DISCOVERING
These words describe seeing or becoming aware of something, especially something you have been looking for.

🔍The most common word for this is FIND.
📌Runway inspection is carried out after a hit to FIND and remove bits of a bird carcass.

🔍A very common alternative to find is the verb DISCOVER.
📌Post flight inspection didn't discover damage to the aircraft.

🔍If someone finds the exact position of something, the verb LOCATE may be used.
📌Aircraft crew should LOCATE the cause of fire as quickly as possible and deal with it urgently in order to ensure that the fire situation does not become uncontrollable.

🔍If someone finds something that has been secret or hidden, then the verbs UNCOVER, UNEARTH and REVEAL are sometimes used.
📌The FAA failed to uncover the design vulnerability.
📌The examination of the affected engine didn't reveal the presence of foreign objects.

🔍to DETECT - to discover something, usually using special equipment
📌Security screening personnel should be trained to detect potentially unruly passengers and if possible, prevent them from boarding.

LINKING WORDS AND PHRASES (sequence)

Describe a typical ATC's day...

FIRST OF ALL, an ATC passes a pre-shift medical check up before starting his/her working day.

AFTER THAT, all controllers are given a briefing, where a shift supervisor informs them of safety critical issues.

THEN, an ATC goes to the operational room.

AFTER the handover/takeover procedure, a controller gets down to work.

FINALLY, there's a debriefing after every shift, which is usually conducted by a supervisor.

LINKING WORDS to EXPRESS YOUR OPINION

IN MY OPINION, the controller's work is very difficult.

TO MY MIND, jobs in the area of management, control and information services will always be important in aviation.

TO MY WAY OF THINKING, it's impossible to eliminate human factor from aviation.

IT STRIKES ME THAT, simulator training is useful not only for future ATCs but also for the experienced ones.

AS FAR AS I AM CONCERNED, pilot's and ATC's jobs are now probably the most respected in aviation.

I THINK THAT the profession of marshallers may disappear if automated systems continue to improve.
