🇩🇪 Bild published news that Volkswagen plans to cut additional 50 thousand of jobs in Germany by 2030.

The cuts go hand in hand with Volkswagen's economic and technological crises, because the corporation struggles to sell enough cars in order to afford more R&D. However, without billions in R&D investment, Volkswagen's tech will keep getting more outdated than what its competitors offer, leading to further cuts.

German industries have been shrinking continuously throughout the 2020s, as many economists fear that the country is close to entering recession. Global inflation, diminishing purchasing power, strict regulations and tightening eco-rules coupled with expensive electricity make it very difficult for German industrial companies to compete against foreign brands.

🇦🇪 The biggest oil refinery at Al Ruwais in the United Arab Emirates halted operations after a drone strike caused a fire in the industrial area next to its main facilities.

Even though the damage isn't expected to be serious, the attack reflects Iran's increased efforts to target oil infrastructure in the region with the intent to generate market pressure and hurt global economic growth.

Last week, Iran attempted to strike numerous oil refineries in the Middle East as well as pipelines and oil tankers. In most cases, damage was insignificant, but led to temporary suspension of operations. Additionally, the Gulf countries approach the point when their storage facilities run out of space while exports of oils remain impossible, as Iran hits tankers trying to cross the Strait of Hormuz.

🇨🇳 According to the new report by Bloomberg, China amassed over 1.4 billion barrels of crude oil in its strategic reserve. Chinese oil import in January-February 2026 was 16% higher than for the identical period in 2025.

China's reserves are expected to allow the East Asian country to continue operating as usual for more than 6 months, even if all of China's oil supplies from the Middle East cease entirely.

Previously, many senior White House officials and conservative pundits in the United States listed increase in pressure on China as one of the key by-effects of military operations in Iran and Venezuela. However, Chinese efforts to diversify supplies and grow its oil reserves seem to have succeeded, as shortage of fuel isn't a feasible risk for the country's economy.

🇷🇺🇺🇸🇮🇷 Putin's press-secretary Peskov told journalists that the Russian leader proposed Trump own plan for de-escalation with Iran, refused to provide details.

Last few days, President Trump repeatedly denied having intention to open peace talks with Iran. Despite being Iran's formal ally, Russia is expected to benefit from the surge in oil prices. As neither leader has actual interest in peace at this stage, success of any joint de-escalation initiative is unlikely.

America leads the military operation against Iran, while Russia remains one of the Middle Eastern nation's main allies worldwide. Nevertheless, Russia hasn't rushed to defend Iran or supply it with weapons. So far, Russia's involvement in helping Iran was minimal and didn't exceed alleged exchange of intel.

🇺🇸 WSJ reported that President Trump increasingly leans towards supporting Marco Rubio's 2028 presidential bid.

As VP Vance keeps distancing from the Administration's foreign agenda - according to multiple reports, largely unhappy with operations in Iran and Venezuela - and skips high-profile meetings, Rubio's influence is expected to grow more.

Last year, Rubio committed not to challenge Vance in the 2028 presidential primary. However, back then, President Trump was expressing open support for Vance's run in 2028. Now Trump's actual endorsement doesn't look guaranteed for Vance.
