The dichotomy of left and right does not work

You realize the dichotomy of left and right doesn’t work when you find yourself supporting less illegal immigration and less immigration overall and more integration of the people coming to the west, and at the same time fervently oppose the genocide of Palestinians. You then find that the people you thought you agreed with are actually just pundits for israel and don’t remember anything past the last month and just perpetuate israeli propaganda within the blink of an eye, uncritically, because it allows them to promote anti-muslim sentiment and anti-immigration. As if indiscriminate bombing of people is an acceptable price for that.

Now i get anti-muslim sentiment when we import retards that aren’t good in the head and think they can stab children in a playground, as happened in france. But to not allow people to protest for Palestine because our governments side with a genocidal government that is doing what they claim nazi germany did to them, is shallow at best and satanic at worst. And i honestly do not want to be grouped up with “the west” if it becomes the general view that israel is “defending” itself and Palestine is a terrorist population and anyone out on the streets protesting to get an ear from the government is our enemy and should not be allied with.

It’s not hard to realize that stealing land, pouring concrete into watersupplies, torturing “prisoners”, bombing apartment blocks and using banned munitions that have insane amounts of collateral damage is not how you fight “terrorism” in general. Even the united states tried to keep a facade of trying to work “surgically” by talking to the local population and trying to figure out where cells were and who were members of terrorist cells. Facade, because we all know the first black president is responsible for the darkest days of drone strikes on innocents. But with israel that’s all out of the window, and we see the classic propaganda of us, the “good angels” vs them, the “barbarians”.

It’s sickening and i struggle with my own conscience to continue living here and continue partaking in and contributing to these fundamentally sick societies.

The Spartiate system is a meritocratic system

Lycurgus made a lot of reforms during his lifetime for Spartan society with the goal of eradicating the extreme economic differences in Sparta. And for good reason, the city was burdened with a lot of poor people that had nothing and struggled to contribute to society, placing a burden on the city. So what was the goal of these reforms and why did it make the system the Spartans lived in a meritocracy?

For starters, the goal was to eradicate economic inequality through the promotion of social inequality. It was made so incredibly unattractive to be wealthy that people simply didn't focus on this. Instead of helping someone else with money it was far more respectable by helping someone by working with them. There also came a far greater emphasis on competition between one another and wearing fancy clothes was looked down upon. At the end of the day what mattered was not the material of your clothes but how well your body was built and sculpted.

However even when we look at what Plato writes about Spartan society we come to understand that there most definitely was still economic inequality and Sparta was by no means "poor". They had huge parcels of land, tons of slaves to work on that land, lots of gold from their conquest and subjugation of other people and the top layer of society (the Spartans) could focus day in day out on training for war. As time went on, more and more Spartans would become 2nd grade citizens because they could not contribute enough to their syssitia (dining mess/club).

So, could we come to the conclusion that economic inequality was not eradicated but instead, became a result of social inequality?
If you simply could not come up with the contribution for your syssitia that would mean you didn't work hard enough, weren't cunning enough, didn't have the right insights to accumulate enough for your syssitia or you straight up got through training, were given land and then thought aight, i'm done, why would i watch over my helots (slaves in Spartan society)? they'll work my land just fine.

If you did not have the character and ended up at the bottom of the social hierarchy, you would be poorer as a result and be thrown out of the Spartiate society and become a 2nd grade citizen. Therefore, Spartan society became a meritocracy where the most capable people were allowed to stay a Spartan. This elitism undoubtedly also led to their downfall during later difficult times.
