At least 750 National Guard members will be deployed.
The new deployment is in addition to the 1,000 New York City police officers who were ordered to patrol subway lines and do security checks on bags in the nation's largest transit system last month following an attack on a conductor and other high-profile crimes.
The Governor of New York, Kathy Hochul has ordered the Deployment of 750 Soldiers and Airmen with the New York National Guard as well as 250 State Police into the New York City Subway System following a Massive Spike recently in Violent Crime; alongside this Deployment, she has also proposed a Bill which will Ban from Public Transit anybody who has committed a Violent Crime on the Subway.
