Google Pixel 1/XL 2016 | Updates™

This week less update, so making some story post regarding PixelExperience as we lack updates. Content for this week’s post:

This week the ROM that really gets an update is only PixelDust. Small announcement since there is nothing much to say. Post for all the details is here.

So the guide to flash PixelExperience has been updated to use TWRP to flash. Most people are having issues sideloading it, the updated guide should avoid such issue now. Thanks to @Avroyin for telling it. So, anyone of you can give it a try and see if it really works or not, I hope it does for you. Talking about PixelExperience, most people here choose it rather than other ROM, just because it is like an extended support from the stock ROM (as promised from the ROM name itself and most people wanted that). Also, include minor customisations stuff with the Plus version. Of course, there could be other reasons, anyway it your choice.

So if we don’t have PixelExperience build, what ROMs can you use that have the “Pixel Experience”? Well, any ROMs that has Gapps included are the choices. We have ArrowOS by @blckbear99 & PixelDust by @spezi77, which is up to date. Well, these are the two ROMs that have Gapps. Other maintained ROMs would be LineageOS & exTHmUI, which are vanilla build. Flashing Gapps will do most of the job, though.

Ok, so not really an update post regarding Pixel 1 development actually. I just want to tell people that there are many ROMs existing out there. Try something new, maybe you will love it after you tried, who knows? Until you give it a try.

Steps to flash PixelExperience 11 on Pixel/Pixel XL (fixed guide):

A. Boot PixelExperience Recovery
1. Download PE Recovery and save it on PC if you haven't already: Pixel | Pixel XL.
2. Boot your device into fastboot mode.
3, On your PC, use command fastboot flash boot filename.img.

B. Repartition device (learn more)
1. Download the correct zip file for your Pixel device: 32GB | 128GB
2. On the device, select “Apply Update”, then “Apply from ADB”, then on your PC, sideload the package using: adb sideload filename.zip
*TIP: If the process succeeds the output will stop at 47% and report adb: failed to read command: Success/No error.

C. Booting TWRP temporary
1. Download TWRP and save it on your PC if you haven't already: Pixel | Pixel XL
1. Boot your device to fastboot mode.
2. On your PC, use command fastboot boot filename.img
*TIP: If you saw it send 'boot.img' on the console output, select "Restart Bootloader" option on your device by using volume up/down button then confirm with power button, and perform the steps again.

D. Format Data/Factory Reset
1. Select "Wipe", then choose "Format Data".
2. Follow instructions on the screen, type 'yes' and press enter and it will start the process.
3. Later, return back to main menu.

E. Installing PixelExperience ROM
1. Download/Transfer PixelExperience ROM zip file to your device if you haven't already
2. On the device, select "Install", then find the ROM zip file.
3. Swipe to install and wait for the installation to finish, then reboot system (wiping dalvik & cache is optional).

Notes:
• This is a fixed guide which require to boot TWRP and flash PixelExperience with it (thanks to @Avroyin for telling that it work with this method)

Surprisingly, this week we grew pretty much. Thank you guys! Content for this week’s post:

If you have been checking the channel, the PixelExperience post has been merged after the poll is created. At that time, most of you guys voted to merge the post. By the way, last week I announced the format, and indeed it is really weird. So I change the style and this should be better, future PixelExperience post will have this format:
▪️Sailfish [?GB] | Plus Edition [?GB]
▪️Marlin [?GB] | Plus Edition [?GB]

Ok, so several people are having issues flashing PE 11 ROM build. Well, I created a guide to simplify all the process. Still, for some reasons, some still can't get it boot. I hope it boot for the majority of you guys. Anyway, you can check @Pixel1Updates pinned message or click this link to be redirect to the post.

Steps to flash PixelExperience 11 on Pixel/Pixel XL (complete guide):

A. Boot PixelExperience Recovery
1. Download PE Recovery and save it on PC: Pixel | Pixel XL
2. Boot info fastboot mode
3, On your PC, use command fastboot flash boot filename.img

B. Repartition device (learn more)

So this is a last minute update, hence not a really good writing for this week (the title is like meh). Anyway, content for this week's post:
• Android 11: PixelExperience Official 11 is out!
• Android 11: ArrowOS 11 is out too!
• Poll: Merge PixelExperience post into one or not?

Just a few hours ago, PixelExperience Official was released for Pixel & Pixel XL by @PixelBoot. As usual, all stock ROM stuff is there, only changes, Android 11, Neutrino Kernel and some bug fixes likely. Here the respective download link for the standard version & Plus edition. By the way, if you want to explore more, check the next paragraph.

So do you want to explore more? Try ArrowOS 11 by @blckbear99, also freshly release a few hours ago. There are more customisations in this ROM. It also comes with vanilla and Gapps option. It comes with Neutrino Kernel too. Currently, the developer has released an unofficial build for both Pixel & Pixel XL, but next month, the official build should be coming soon, so stay tuned. For people who are interested, download it over here (vanilla only for now).

So some of you guys suggest me to merge the PixelExperience post into one. Hmm… I kinda have the idea of merging it actually, but I think it looks weird though. I thought of making it like this:
▪️ Standard version: ️Sailfish [?GB] | ️Marlin [?GB]
▪️ Plus version: ️Sailfish [?GB] | ️Marlin [?GB]
