The Trump administration has proposed increasing the budget for NASA's Planetary Defense Coordination Office from some $60 million to $150 million -- amid growing concerns that humanity is utterly unprepared for the unlikely but still unthinkable: an asteroid strike of calamitous proportions.

Space Exploration is one of the few things which Inspires me

Whenever you listen to the news nowadays almost all of the stories are bad, most people have a pretty bad prediction of the future and most people are selfish, materialistic and don't really care about others

But there is just something about space exploration, about the final frontier that really inspires me, it really gives me hope in people and it makes me feel happy that we might one day spread across the stars and achieve the impossible, it brings everyone together to believe in the ability of humanity again, all those people cheering at rocket launches, all the hopes and dreams of people wanting to break the bounds of our atmosphere and explore what lies beyond, it's the most inspirational thing for me. Ever since i was a little kid i always loved the idea of going into space, of different planets, different galaxies and solar systems, that it would be Humanity's destiny to spread across them.

I've never really had anyone I've looked up or seen as an inspiration but Elon Musk is starting to look like a very big inspiration to me because he believes in humanity and he wants for us to go to Mars and i think that it is just fantastic

Looking at the moon, it’s covered in impact craters. Objects burn up in our atmosphere (usually) and make little impact; what will happen to planned moon structures in the future? How do you defend against that with no atmosphere?

Big badaboom?

New research shows the "average" human could survive long-term on an exoplanet with around 3.5 times Earth's gravity. According to the authors, Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson ("The Mountain") could take a few steps on a planet with 4.6 times our gravity.

Researchers develop wearable robotic skins that can turn all kinds of inanimate objects into robots capable of performing basic tasks. The technology was partly developed for NASA, as the lightweight robots can serve as multi-purpose tools in space, saving a fortune on launching cargo at $10,000/lb.
