Right-Wing Euroskeptic Party Wins Dutch Elections
The right-wing Party For Freedom (PVV) is projected to win the Dutch general election with a commanding lead, getting 35 parliamentary seats compared to the Green-Labour alliance’s 26.
The PVV, often criticized as ‘anti-Islamic,’ will likely emerge as the largest party in parliament, but may struggle to find other parties willing to join their controversial leader Geert Wilders to form a coalition.
“Wilders wants the Dutch government to cut immigration, reduce payments to the union budget and veto any further EU enlargement. He also demanded that the Netherlands stop supplying weapons to Ukraine,” The Guardian newspaper wrote about him.
