It appears these were handed out at the recent England v Ukraine football match, encouraging fans to call for Russians to be killed and to throw Ukrainian coloured paper planes onto the pitch as a symbolic demand for F16 fighter jets to be sent to Kiev.

Surely FIFA, footballs governing body, must take action on this. In the past fans have been banned and had fines imposed after displaying Palestinian flags and calling for an end to Israeli bombing. Or is this just another case of double standards?

I spoke to my colleague Rory Suchet about the seismic geopolitical shifts seen in recent weeks and the decline in the power of the dollar as the global currency as Iran’s Foreign Minister is the latest high-level official to visit Moscow.

This is the fourth Israeli air strike on Syria since last months earthquake, including two attacks on Aleppo International Airport, the main hub for humanitarian aid.

It would be foolish to think Tel Aviv is acting independently, hence the global silence. As Syria rebuilds relations with U.S. regional ally Saudi Arabia, which has also reestablished diplomatic relations with Iran in a deal brokered by China, we can expect more of this.

Brazilian exporters no longer need to use dollars to trade with China. Brazil’s finance ministry announced Wednesday during a meeting in Beijing that the two countries’ central banks have determined that Brazilian banks will be able—but not required—to carry out trade in yuan using China's payment system.

Described as “an effort to reduce transaction costs,” the agreement allows for a Chinese "clearing house" to be established in Sao Paolo. This is a major shift, given that China is Brazil’s largest trade partner by far — about a third of the goods exported by South America’s biggest economy (around $70 billion a year) end up there.

Now all that business can be done in the yuan instead —say “tchau” to the dollar’s global dominance.

Protest outside Downing Street today in defence of civil rights in Ukraine, calling for the release of all political prisoners.

The two Minsk Accords of September 2014 and of February 2015 were aimed at a ceasefire and the recognition of the rights of Russian-speaking people in the Donbas regions.  These aims and others, particularly an end to the fighting, were agreed upon by the Kiev administration, the Donbas regional leaders and the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) and then backed by France, Germany and Russia.

However, the world effectively ignored the Minsk Accords and the conflict has carried on along its deadly course.

It's easy to miss the significance of the British decision to send depleted uranium rounds to Ukraine. Summed up dispassionately by even the best and most truthful news reporters, the enormity of imperialist war crimes still don't easily hit home.

Depleted uranium is a nuclear weapon. It poisons the land, the air and the water. Not just for now but for a long time. Cancer cases in Fallujah (another victim city of these heinous weapons) are higher than amongst Hiroshima survivors. But the British media simply says that the shells are 'controversial' and leaves it at that.

What will happen to Ukraine's people if their food, water and animals are poisoned (assuming the region's breadbasket will still produce crops)? What will happen to the world's people if poisoned food is exported from this region?

How would you feel if this was happening where you live? If, besides having to rebuild your devastated country, you had to live with the permanent fear that you or your friends and family members might at any time develop some aggressive cancer? If your mothers, sisters and daughters were afriad to celebrate new life, and instead had to spend every moment of every pregnancy in fear for the viability of the babies they were carrying?

All this is mere collateral damage as far as the emperors of finance capital are concerned -- all a 'price worth paying' (by someone else) in the pursuit of their profit margins and continued hegemony.

BREAKING NEWS: The commander of the radiological and chemical protection forces of the Russian Ministry of Defence Igor Kirillov says that the radiological situation in the city of Fallujah is worse than it was in Hiroshima and Nagasaki & that this city is the "second Chernobyl"

Britain's Defence Ministry has confirmed that it will send depleted uranium munitions to Ukraine as part of its Challenger 2 tank package. Russia warned of a dangerous escalation and highlighted the devastating long-term effects of DU as seen in places including Fallujah and Yugoslavia where it has polluted the environment and led to a spike in cancers and birth defects.

I discussed this in the RT studio earlier with my colleague Rory Suchet.

"Thanks to EFF" is trending on social media in the wake of yesterdays massive National Shutdown across South Africa organized by the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF).

Twitter was filled with thousands of posts and pictures of things South Africans were able to do with electricity running, with tweeters thanking the Marxist-Leninist EFF. During the shutdown, public utility company, ESKOM, suspended its power blackouts which have been one of the main triggers of public anger towards the ANC government.

Meanwhile, South Africa was painted red as thousands responded to the EFF's call for a nationwide day of strikes and protests against a range of issues gripping South Africa, from rolling power-cuts (load-shedding), to gender-based violence, unemployment and high crime rates.

EFF Commander in Chief, Julius Malema, was leading a sit-in protest outside Ramaphosa's office. The shutdown was peaceful, despite the government deploying the army on the streets for one month in response to growing public unrest.

Photos of the protests in France against pension reforms. These have been going on for the last five days.

The state attempted to ban the protests, without success.

Police dressed as storm-troopers are violently attempting to stop the protests, but people march on.

Amongst protesters demands is Macron's resignation.

Macron's government was just nine votes away from a no-confidence vote last night.

Air traffic controllers, teachers, rubbish collectors, bus/train drivers and electricians are amongst those on strike.

Oil refineries have been on strike for almost two weeks.

Hundreds of petrol stations all over the country are without petrol due to the striking workers.

The trade unions have called a national day of action for tomorrow.

Is this the scent of a revolution?

All 👀 on 🇫🇷

My on the ground report from Iraq as part of our special coverage marking the 20th anniversary of the US-led invasion & occupation that killed one million people & led to the rise of Isis, destabilising the region & making the world a more dangerous place

On St Patrick's Day 1981 Bobby Sands writes in his prison diary for the very last time:

Ní bhrisfidh siad mé mar tá an fonn saoirse, agus saoirse mhuintir na hEireann i mo chroí.

Tiocfaidh lá éigin nuair a bheidh an fonn saoirse seo le taispeáint ag daoine go léir na hEireann ansin tchífidh muid éirí na gealaí!

Translation:

They won’t break me because the desire for freedom, and the freedom of the Irish people, is in my heart.

The day will dawn when all the people of Ireland will have the desire for freedom to show.

It is then we’ll see the rising of the moon!

“The Thatcher government in its callousness suppressed any criticism and continued trade with the Ba’athists after it knew about Halabja, doubling its export credit facility to Iraq.”

My on the ground report from Halabja detailing Britain’s murky role in covering up a chemical attack that left more than 5,000 Kurds dead just before new year celebrations.

When famous British author, H.G. Wells, interviewed Soviet leader Joseph Stalin for the New Statesman magazine, American journalists were shocked.

But probably not for the reason you assume, listen to Izdihar explain ☝️

A US spy plane took off from the Saudi Al-Kharj base and headed towards the sectors of the Popular Mobilisation Forces in Iraq’s western Anbar Province.

It comes hours after two American Chinook helicopters allegedly brought in groups of Isis fighters to the same region.

US military Chinook helicopters landing in Hatra desert, south of Mosul where we filmed with the PMF just a few days ago.

Sources tell me they are almost certainly bringing Isis fighters into the region as they are alleged to have done many times before.
