🔴Article 348(1) stipulates the use of English in the Supreme Court and High Courts as well as for drafting Bills, Acts and Orders.
🔴Article 348(2) read with Section (7) of the Official Languages Act 1963 provides for Hindi or other official languages to be used in High Courts “in addition to English”.
🔴Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh have already been granted the right to use Hindi in their High Courts.
🔴The same right has been withheld from Tamil Nadu and Gujarat and Chhattisgarh which sought permission to use Tamil, Gujarati and Hindi respectively.
🔴With regard to the functioning of High Courts, all Indian official languages enjoy equal status.
Therefore, demands for permission to use these languages in High Courts are bound to increase

Sukhna Lake will now be a legal entity for its survival, preservation and conservation.

Chandigarh should ensure that the average capacity of the lake is increased by at least about 100-150 hectare by one-time large scale desilting.

Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh have also been told to lower the storage capacity of the check dams to ensure regular flow of water into the lake.
Chandigarh will have to ensure that there is no seepage losses.

The aquatic weeds are ordered to be removed within a period of six months.

Estuarine ecosystem= Saltwater may penetrate- constructed bunds to avoid this- look at the pic.
🔴These channels would fill in with the oncoming tide and bring with them fish, crab and shrimp, and the gates would automatically shut when the water level was equal on both sides.
🔴This prevented the water from overflowing into the fields used to grow paddy and which has a low tolerance to salt.
🔴When the tide receded, these gates would open outwards automatically, allowing the water to drain out.

🔴The Khazan system allowed for the farmer and the fisher to harmoniously coexist and was the key to sustaining what is considered Goa’s staple — fish, curry and rice.
