Let’s get back to a topic that isn’t entirely clear to everyone 🔑

In 2024–2025, several games with their own tokens were released, promoted by the Notcoin team. Some people like to lump everything together, but these are separate teams and separate developers who were promoted as part of the NOT Games project.

The idea was to create something similar to Steam within Telegram (hello, boring TON).

🤔 Roughly speaking, aside from receiving assistance from Notcoin, these projects are in no way connected to it. But unfortunately, a combination of circumstances prevented these games from gaining the same boost and reach as Notcoin itself (out of the blue).
Among these factors were the falling TON price, giveaways, and the outflow of liquidity from TON.
On top of everything else, it’s important to understand that people had unrealistically high expectations from the start.

For example, NOT Pixel, a great game with fairly strong competitive mechanics. But after Notcoin gave away hundreds - and sometimes thousands of dollars to players for taps, people decided this was an investment opportunity and that they’d get more by spending money on the game. On the game, Carl! A game that wasn’t even positioned as “play-to-earn,” even though that’s effectively what it became.

The person who deposited $100 expected to get more, but he didn’t even stop to think about where the team would get the liquidity to multiply that amount for him, that the team has operating expenses, that there are people on the team who need to be paid, and that servers and marketing cost money. They just didn’t care. And in the end, of course, the NOT Pixel team (and Notcoin along with them) is to blame for the fact that people, after playing the game, having a great time, and promoting their own projects (since you could design a logo) expected to get back more than they had donated. By the way, they even consider this an investment.
All of this was fueled by the “influencers” who made up token prices and other nonsense. But there are no questions for the inflers who did this, right? 🤦‍♂️

And what did the NOT Pixel team do in response?
They released the excellent game Pixel World, bought back tokens from the market, and tried to somehow stabilize the situation on the declining TON.
What had the Open Builders do? They stayed silent, since it wasn’t even their project.
However, Notcoin acted as a catalyst for the growth of these projects by providing various forms of assistance (technical, marketing) without asking for anything in return. All that mattered were cool mechanics and interesting gameplay. What did Notcoin get in return (after giving away billions of dollars to players and supporting the teams)? A storm of hate and unfounded accusations.
Don’t you think that’s unfair?

That’s what I think. But the people who “lost” their money in NOT Pixel will, of course, say that I’m just a friend of Sasha’s and that I’m defending everyone. That’s their right, and it’s just their way of shifting the blame.

All these events have forced me to make a very difficult decision - to postpone The Game’s launch and start working on side projects in parallel to fund this game (since it’s a “play-to-earn” game, after all). The economy has been thought out down to the smallest detail by. Everything you’ll soon see on your screens is just the tip of the iceberg, just 10% of my efforts to create a new sensation on TON. It’s something new. Something in the spirit of Notcoin. The very one from 2024.

And for a while, it worked spectacularly well.

But there was a fundamental problem. Users were being trained to extract value from applications instead to create value inside them. They transformed users into mercenaries.

When token prices stopped rewarding that behavior, the model began to collapse. And instead of returning to the original question "what useful can we build on TON?" they found an easier form of monetization - speculation without pretending there was a product underneath.

Technology that demonstrated an extraordinary ability to distribute applications to hundreds of millions of people is now being used by people against one another.

Telegram is still an extraordinary distribution tool. With TON attached.

But what is the key change? What can builders do rn?
Exactly what we did last 2 years. Do boring but extremely important for TON future projects. Make ❤️TON boring! And bring real economy instead of manipulations and speculations.

We need to make TON (and NOT of course) something people actually need to buy - not because its pumping, hyping, or because every influencer bought it.

TON needs demand, not hype.

The real win is when people use TON every day without even thinking they’re using blockchain.

That’s exactly why we build projects like ⭐️Talents. Shortly (right after we finish some legal questions) clients will be allowed to pay for projects by cards / IBAN transfers and get work done without even knowing that freelancer got paid in Gram / TON USDT.

But they buy Gram in deed while making order. And it creates liquidity inflow to TON ecosystem.

In 2024 (or, more precisely, beginning in late 2023) a fascinating series of events occurred:

Notcoin reshaped the narrative around TON. It was no longer seen merely as an old Telegram-related crypto project whose original incarnation, Gram, had been halted following the SEC case.

Instead, Notcoin demonstrated that TON could be seamlessly integrated into Telegram Mini Apps and that Telegram itself could become a distribution layer for consumer Web3 applications.

The emerging vision was essentially Telegram as the Web3 equivalent of WeChat:

Mini Apps as applications, Telegram as the distribution, identity, and social layer, and TON as the financial and ownership layer underneath - open, permissionless, and without a traditional centralized financial intermediary.

Notcoin was the proof of concept that this model could reach tens of millions of ordinary users.

But what happened next? 🤔

The market made its choice.

Why spend months building something genuinely useful, developing ecosystem infrastructure, or experimenting with new products when you could simply copy, or, more accurately, plagiarize - whatever had just gone viral?

Notcoin proved that Telegram could distribute a Web3 product to tens of millions of users. But instead of treating that as proof that entirely new categories of products could be built on TON, much of the market interpreted it as a recipe:

Mini App + simple mechanic + referrals + points + promised token = users.

Hundreds of projects began reproducing essentially the same model. Innovation was replaced by iteration, and iteration quickly became imitation.

The original narrative - Telegram as a distribution layer for a new generation of consumer applications - gradually narrowed into something much less ambitious:

Instead of asking “What useful product becomes possible because Telegram and TON exist together?”, the market increasingly asked:

“What can we launch quickly enough to suck money before the next project does?”
