Abelacimab vs. Rivaroxaban in Atrial Fibrillation

📄 Key Study Findings:

• Abelacimab significantly reduced bleeding risk compared to rivaroxaban in AF patients.

• Bleeding events (per 100 person-years):
• Abelacimab 150 mg: 3.2
• Abelacimab 90 mg: 2.6

🔴 New Drug for Stomach Acid Disorders:
AGA Updates on Potassium-Competitive Acid Blockers (P-CABs)

According to the latest AGA guidelines, potassium-competitive acid blockers (P-CABs) are preferred over PPIs in H. pylori eradication regimens due to their superior and rapid acid suppression, improving eradication rates, especially in resistant strains.

However, PPIs remain the mainstay of treatment for GERD and peptic ulcer disease (PUD), as P-CABs are not recommended as first-line therapy for these conditions. Their use is reserved for select cases like severe GERD or refractory acid-related disorders.

🔴 Fracture Prevention with Infrequent Zoledronate in Early Postmenopausal Women

📌 Key Findings:

• Zoledronate at baseline & 5 years reduced morphometric vertebral fractures by 44% (RR 0.56; 95% CI 0.34–0.92; P=0.04).

• Fragility fractures, major osteoporotic fractures, and any fractures were significantly lower with zoledronate compared to placebo.

• Conclusions: Zoledronate, administered twice over 10 years, effectively prevents vertebral fractures in early postmenopausal women.
