🔴 New Drug for Stomach Acid Disorders:
AGA Updates on Potassium-Competitive Acid Blockers (P-CABs)According to the latest AGA guidelines,
potassium-competitive acid blockers (P-CABs) are preferred over PPIs in
H. pylori eradication regimens due to their superior and rapid acid suppression, improving eradication rates, especially in resistant strains.
However,
PPIs remain the mainstay of treatment for
GERD and
peptic ulcer disease (PUD), as P-CABs are not recommended as first-line therapy for these conditions. Their use is reserved for select cases like severe GERD or refractory acid-related disorders.
