Transformer Foundation.
TON Foundation President Steve Yun and TON Society co-founder Jack Booth spoke on stage at The Gateway 2024 with a presentation on "TON's Path to Decentralization".
They spoke about the plans for transition to a new TON management model, where decisions are made solely by the community, and competition, innovation and cooperation become the main tools for ecosystem development.
At first glance, everything looks positive. But one gets the feeling that instead of real decentralized management, roles are being distributed and responsibility is being abdicated. For this purpose, as it turns out, many subsidiary organizations are created:
- TON Foundation
- TON Core
- TON Studio
- TON Ventures
- TON Society
- TON Acc
... and others. And, by the looks of it, the list is only going to grow.
But is this a step towards community governance? The community has never made key decisions in TON - from validator votes to freezing TON first miners or blocking them for 5 years.
Most likely, such structures are created to shield TON Foundation and its employees from the attention of regulators and authorities. After all, despite the status of a non-profit organization, a huge amount of money is poured into the ecosystem.
This is a case where Transformer has been taken apart and then put together in such a way that it's now hard to figure out how and who will manage it all. 😆
