I am now under the serious opinion that the US really didn’t want this, or at least the Biden administration. Russia sort of just got a friendly goodbye from their overextended position in Syria that had to be maintained because of Assad. Most of the Russian equipment safely made it to ports and airfields to be sent back and they may even maintain their ports and airfield. Now Russia can stop focusing on propping up a liability in Syria as there was no real gain to be had with US control of oil and worsening tensions with Turkey and Israel.
If I were the current administration I would want Russia bogged down in Ukraine, Syria, Africa and preferably another area as well. imagine Russia currently sending resources to Syria to fight HTS…
Seems like the right move again from Russia. Iran needs to figure out its plan quickly, I think we’ll be getting a new addition to the nuclear club.
