Primogeniture was not a "late" invention of Christian monarchies, but was in fact practiced by the old Germanic tribes and comes to us through the Salic law of the Franks. This codified the pre-existing practices of the Frankish tribes around the year 500 AD, which prior to Clovis, had been passed down orally. Salic law most notably forbids women from inheriting, but also forms the legal basis of primogeniture. Salic law remained the basis of the Frankish legal system through the medieval period and influenced modern European legal systems today in the areas of trust law, inheritance statutes, and criminal law.

The Old Aristocracy understood that the experience of birth order naturally shapes and grooms the firstborn to take over the great responsibility of care that is leading a family or house (meaning family and subordinate families by blood) - but they did not necessarily understand genetics and the Law of Inheritance. It is not always the case that the firstborn has the inherited character traits and temperament to fill that role. A modern form of primogeniture that is in accord with the NS Life Laws and worldview must take into account this balance of nature/nurture and, while defaulting to primogeniture, it must also have the flexibility to skip the firstborn in favor of other sons if the firstborn proves to have inherited a character and temperament unsuitable for the duties and responsibilities of that role.

In many ways, NS was an attempt to reclaim and rejuvenate these ancient and innately human concepts, not eliminate them, and I intend to continue that work - integrating commentary and analysis on art, music, class, wealth, and culture both past and present.
