Iran and Burkina Faso Sign MoU for Peaceful Nuclear Cooperation
Iran and Burkina Faso have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to collaborate on peaceful nuclear activities, according to Iran's official news agency, IRNA. The agreement was signed during the 68th General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna and includes joint efforts in research, education, and project implementation.
Iranian official Pezeshkian emphasized that the country has no plans to develop nuclear weapons, addressing international concerns about its uranium enrichment program. In 2015, Iran entered the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, agreeing to limit its nuclear activities in exchange for sanctions relief. However, this agreement has been under threat since the U.S. withdrew in 2018, reinstating sanctions against Tehran.
Negotiations to revive the deal have stalled since August 2022, and the international community remains closely monitoring Iran's nuclear activities amid ongoing tensions.
