Sa'at al-Istijabah (A time when Dua is answered)

Jabir relates that the Prophet ﷺ said:

“Friday is comprised of twelve hours. There is one in which a Muslim who asks Allah for something will have it granted to him. Seek it in the last hour after Asr.”

[Abu Dawud 1048, Sunan An Nasa'ī 1390, Mustadrak Al Hakim 1032]

Al-Imām Muhammad ibn ‘Abdul Wahhāb رحمه الله

"The Foundation of the religion of Islam (Aslu-Dīn al-Islām) and its principles consist in two matters:

▪The First:

The command to worship Allāh ﷻ alone with no partners associated with Him, and the encouragement upon this with the allegiance based upon it and the declaration of disbelief ( Takfīr ) of whoever leaves it.

▪The Second:

The warning against Shirk in the worship of Allāh ﷻ and being stern in that and having enemity based upon that, and the declaration of disbelief (Takfīr) of whoever commits it.

So the sanctity of Tawhîd is not complete except with this, and it is the religion of the Messengers who warned their peoples about shirk, as He (ﷻ) stated: “And verily, We sent to every community a Messenger (proclaiming): ‘Worship Allâh (Alone) and avoid the Tâghût." [Qur’an 16:36]

*Showing off*

*if the worshipper is initially sincere in his intention towards Allaah, then the idea of showing off develops whilst he is doing it or vice versa In this case does he get rewarded?*

*Very beneficial answer*

Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymeen said:

Showing off may affect worship in three ways:

1 – When the basic motive for worship is to be seen by others, such as one who stands and prays so that people will see him, and so that they will praise him for his prayers. This invalidates the act of worship.

2 – When it is a factor that develops during the act of worship, i.e., if the worshipper is initially sincere in his intention towards Allaah, then the idea of showing off develops whilst he is doing it. In this case one of the following two scenarios must apply:

(i) There is no connection between the first part of his act of worship and the last part, so the first part is valid in all cases, and the last part is invalid.

For example: a man has one hundred riyals that he wants to give in charity, so he gives fifty of them in a sincere act of charity. Then the idea of showing off develops with regard to the remaining fifty. So the first was a sound and accepted act of charity, but the last fifty was an invalid act of charity because the sincerity was mixed with a desire to show off.

(ii) The first part of the act of worship is connected to the last part, in which case one of the following two scenarios must apply:

(a) He wards off the idea of showing off and does not give in to it, rather he turns away from it and hates it. This does not have any effect on him, because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Allaah has forgiven my ummah for what crosses their minds, so long as they do not act upon it or speak of it.”

(b) When he gives in to this idea of showing off and does not ward it off. In this case the entire act of worship becomes invalid, because the first part is connected to the last part. For example, he starts the prayer with a sincere intention towards Allaah, then the idea of showing off develops in the second rak’ah, so the entire prayer becomes invalid because the first part is connected to the last part.

3 – The idea of showing off develop after the act of worship has ended. This does not affect it or invalidate it, because it has been completed soundly, so if showing off occurs after that it does not affect it.

It is not showing off if a person feels happy that the people come to know about his worship, because this developed after he has finished the act of worship.

It is not showing off if a person feels happy because he has done an act of worship, because that is a sign of his faith. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Whoever feels happy because of his good deeds and sad because of his bad deeds, that is the believer.”

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) was asked about that and said: “That is the first glad tidings of the believer.”

لا إله إلا الله
‘La ilaha illaAllah’
‘There is none worthy of worship (in truth) except Allah’

Sheikh Abdur Rahman Bin Hasan Aal As-Sheikh (رحمه الله) said:

“The scholars of Ahl sunnah wal Jama’ah have stated while discussing the meaning of ‘La ilaha illaAllah’ and what makes it and breaks it, that knowledge with absolute belief has been made compulsory by Allah upon everyone and that it is one of the conditions that can make or break the Shahadah. Al-Wazir (Abul Muthafar) stated in his book ‘al-Ifsah’: ‘That to testify that there is no god worthy of worship but Allah requires that the witness should know fully the meaning of it. As Allah says: “So know that there is nothing worthy of worship except Allah…” (Surah Muhammad 47: 19)

Abul Muthafar also stated that this declaration of faith (La ilaha illaAllah) consists of the rejection of Taghūt and the belief in Allah, therefore when one rejects all gods other than Allah and then affirms that worship should be directed to no one but Allah, he has disbelieved in Taghūt and believed in Allah Alone.”

💠Fajr Salah on Friday💠

It was narrated by Ibn ‘Umar (Rady'Allahu Anhu): The Apostle of Allah (ﷺ) said:

💠‼️“The best prayer before Allaah is Fajr prayer on Friday in congregation"‼️

[al-Bayhaqi in Shu’ab al-Eemaan]

🌷Sending Salah upon the Prophet Muhammad sallallahu alaihe wa sallam 🌷

💠Sending ṣalāh upon the Prophet ﷺ on Friday is better than on the rest of the days, and its night (Thursday night) is the best of nights. He ﷺ said,

🌷“Among the best of your days is Friday, so frequently send ṣalāh upon me therein.”

💠The crown of all adhkār on Friday is sending ṣalāh (supplications for peace) upon the Prophet ﷺ. Those who mention it the most are those most mentioned in the heavens (by the angels) and those with the most tranquility on earth.

تاج الأذكار يوم الجمعة الصلاة على النبي ﷺ، أكثر الناس لها ذكراً أكثرهم ذكراً في السماء وطمأنينة في الأرض

Sheikh AbdulAziz Al Tarefe حفظه الله

💠“Truly Allah and His angels say Salah on the Prophet, O you believers, recite Salah on him and send Salam on him completely.” [Al-Ahzab | C.33: A.56]

*Virtues of Dhikr – Remembering Allah*

1. Remembrance of God [Dhikr] drives away and breaks the devil [shaytan]

2. It pleases ar-Rahman [the Most-Merciful]

3. It removes the cares and worries of the Heart

4. It brings joy and happiness to the Heart

5. It strengthens both body and Heart

6. It endows the person with Love of God which is the very spirit of Islam – for God has opened a way of access to everything, and the way to Love is constancy in Remembrance [Dhikr].

7. It endows one with Muraqabah [vigilance] which opens to the door to Ihsan – entering therein, the servant worships God as if he were seeing Him.

8. It predisposes the servant to turn back to God in every state.

9. It endows him with proximity to God. His proximity to God is in proportion to his remembrance; his distance in proportion to his heedlessness.

10. It endows him with God’s own remembrance of him, God says, ‘Remember Me, I shall remember you.”

11. It endows the heart with life. Ibn Taymiyah said, ‘Remembrance is to the heart what water is to fish. What happens to the fish that leaves the water?’

12. It polishes away the Heart’s tarnish

13. It erases sins and repels them

14. It removes estrangement between the servant and his Lord.

15. Words of Remembrance become like the buzzing of bees around the Throne of God.

16. When he knows his Lord through Remembrance [Dhikr] in times of ease his Lord will know him in times of adversity.

17. Remembrance of God [Dhikr] is most effective thing to repel the punishment of God

18. Tranquillity descends upon the Heart

19. The Remembrance of God [Dhikr] and tears that are shed – give a person shade on the Day of Judgement.

20. It is the easiest form of worship – using the tongue is easier compared to actions of hands and feet.

21. Plants trees in Paradise.

22. Constancy in Remembrance of God [Dhikr] brings about security from forgetfulness of Him. This forgetfulness is the cause of the servant’s misery both in this worldly life and the Day of Judgement.

23. Ibn Taymiyah said, ‘Truly there is a Heaven in this world [and] whoever does not enter it, will not enter the Heaven of the next world.’

24. It enters Light [Nur] in to the Heart – more Remembrance of God [Dhikr] = more light

25. God is with the one when he remembers Him. “I am with My slave when he remembers Me and when his lips move to mention Me.”

26. Remembrance of God [Dhikr] is basis of Gratitude and thanks [Shukr] – when you remember Him abundantly you thank Him abundantly.

27. Remembrance of God [Dhikr] is both the source and the basis of intimate friendship with God – A servant continues to remember his Lord until He loves him.

28. Nothing attracts God’s blessings and repels His wrath as does His remembrance. He repels harm from them and defends them in proportion to the strength and the completeness of their faith in Him. The very substance and power of this faith comes through [His] remembrance. The stronger one’s faith and more abundant the remembrance, the greater God’s defence of him. For the one who falls short, it falls short. i.e. STRONGER DHIKR = STRONGER IMAN = STRONGER DEFENCE

29. God’s remembrance of him precedes his remembrance of Him, for when God remembers His servant, it inspires the servant to remember Him. In prayer, you remember God and He remembers you, and His remembrance of you is greater than your remembrance of Him.

30. The most excellent of those who perform any practice are people who do it with the greatest remembrance of God. The most excellent of those who fast, are those who remember God the most in their fasting -the most excellent of those who do Hajj, are those who remember God the most in [their Hajj] etc.

It has been summarised from the book ‘Invocation of God’ by Ibn al-Qayyim

The virtue of sending ṣalāh (supplications for peace) upon the Prophet ﷺ on Friday begins from sunset on the night of Jumuʿah (Thursday night) and finishes at sunset on the night of Saturday (Friday night). Moreover, sending ṣalāh upon him during the day of Friday is better than during its night (Thursday night).

We can describe Ramadhan in so many ways;

• It is the month the Qur'an was revealed,
• It is the month of Mercy where sins are forgiven,
• It is the month of Salvation where people are saved from the Fire,
• It is the month of Bliss where people are granted Jannah,
• It is the month of Victory,
• It is the month of Layl tul Qadr – The Night of Power – the night the annual decree for people descends.

However, the *essence* of Ramadhan is to prepare the Heart/Mind and body to be worthy of carrying (the responsibilty) of the Qur'an. We have to be worthy of it's guidance. When our hearts are cleaner and sins are forgiven, our understanding of the Qur'an increases and the opposite is also true. The more we sin and are heedless, the less we understand of the Qur'an.

O Allah bless us to be worthy of Your Guidance and increase our understanding of the Qur'an (ameen)
