MONTREAL — Just for Laughs founder Gilbert Rozon's civil trial for sexual assault opened Monday at the Montreal courthouse with his lawyer portraying him as the scapegoat in a hunt to find Quebec's Harvey Weinstein.
Nine women who allege they were assaulted by Rozon, 70, are seeking a total of just under $14 million in damages in a case that's expected to sit until the end of March 2025. All nine women were in court on Monday, and when they filed their claims they agreed to be identified. The first to testify was Lyne Charlebois, a film and television director. The others named in the lawsuits are Annick Charette, Patricia Tulasne, Anne-Marie Charette, Sophie Moreau, Danie Frenette, Guylaine Courcelles, Marylena Sicari and Martine Roy.

▫️Stratford resident charged in child sexual exploitation investigation
The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Stratford resident following an online child luring investigation.
On December 4, 2024, following a prolonged online investigation by members of the OPP Child Sexual Exploitation Unit (CSEU), with the assistance of OPP Digital Forensics and Perth County OPP, a search warrant was executed in Stratford, which led to an arrest.
As a result of the investigation, Robert Duncan Wood, 53 years old of Stratford, was charged with the following Criminal Code offences: Luring a child to facilitate invitation to sexual touching; Luring a child to facilitate sexual interference; Luring a child to facilitate sexual assault; Luring a child to facilitate child pornography.

Several years have passed since Cristina and her team, an elite unit of Spanish police detectives, rescued “Victoria” from a sex trafficking ring.
