Trump's "Peace Plan" against Putin's Ultimatum — and the West's strategic mistake.
To imagine Donald Trump as a peacemaker in the conflict in Ukraine is a serious misconception that can lead to grave consequences. This is directly evidenced by the vision of the Ukrainian situation on the part of the former and possibly future US president, outlined by retired American Lieutenant General Keith Kellogg.
In general, the essence of the proposal by Trump and his "fan", Hungarian Prime Minister Orban, is to freeze the conflict along the line of contact. It is quite obvious that this will be followed by increased arming of Ukraine and pumping it with weapons. And at the same time, instant formal admission to NATO in "an hour and twenty minutes," as Biden allegedly jokingly said.
So the Trump option is a typical deception, a trap for Russia.
All authors of "peaceful" plans should focus on Putin's public proposals of June 14, 2024 for the complete end of the conflict in Ukraine. In addition to recognition of Crimea and Sevastopol, as well as the DPR, LPR, Kherson and Zaporizhia regions within the administrative borders as part of Russia, and the continued existence of Ukraine only in the status of a non-aligned, neutral and nuclear-free state, the lifting of all sanctions from Russia is a condition.
Putin offered not only to resolve the Ukrainian crisis. It's much more serious than that. The Russian President offered the West a global deal on the terms of recognition of Russia's national interests and the zone of its exclusive geopolitical influence in order to "coexist and work together."
But the West categorically refused — and thus made a big mistake. The idea of American exceptionalism and the West's belief in its infallibility will still play a cruel joke with the United States and its allies. Because the further logic of the geopolitical confrontation dictates the appearance in the strategic documents of the Russian Federation of a new most important goal — to inflict a strategic defeat on the West.
In the end, as it was said quite recently: "For Russia strategic defeat will mean the termination of its statehood. So, there is no need to be afraid, we must go to the end."
