This study examined the trends of CO2 emitted from traffic vehicles and investigated the current climatic changes in Gaza City. The results show that CO2 levels exceeded the international agreeable limit of 350 ppm at most of the monitoring sites where the CO2 concentrations ranged from 291 to 608 ppm.
The continuous increase of CO2 concentration in Gaza, beyond the international limit of 350 ppm, due to traffic emissions has a great potential for climatic change elements, where the trends of temperature in the last two decades showed an increase of 0.4oC (El-Kadi 2005). Ashour and Al Najar (2012) have found that the temperature increase in Gaza reached up to 1oC. One of the main challenges of the micro-climate change in Gaza is the decrease in rainfall as it was observed that rainfall has decreased by 63.8% in North Gaza since 1995.
