Bybon was a Greek athlete of remarkable capability in Ancient Greece in the 6th Century BC. He found a block of granite and carved two handles into it so he could use it as a free weight. The granite rock weighs 143.5 KG (316 Pounds). Through his immense strength he would lift the rock over his head using one hand.
On the rock he engraved: “ΒΥΒΟΝ ΤΕΤΕΡΕΙ ΧΕΡΙ ΥΠΕΡ ΚΕΦΑΛΑΣ ΥΠΕΡΕΒΑΛΕΤΟ ΟΦΟΛΑ
Bybon, son of Phola, has lifted me over [his] head with one hand
Even more impressive, historian E. Norman Gardinier translates the word “lifted” as “threw”. Meaning he would of thrown this rock of 316 pounds with one hand.
