Trial and Execution of the Six

Today we remember the 3 Prime Ministers, the Royalist general, 4 politicians, and Prince Andrew in the Trial of the Six Executed

In order to understand the trial, we must learn about the Anatolian Catastrophe. During the Greek war with Turkey, the Republican factions refused to work cohesively with the King and subsequent royalist aligned generals. This would lead to openings in the lines, due to the lack of cohesion and communication, that would eventually result in the Turkish forces breaking through, and would unfortunately remove all Greek holdings in Anatolia.

After the collapse of Anatolia, the Republicans went to the streets rioting and having anger with the government. The Republican generals would coup the King and create a junta, and would charge the 9 men with treason. They would claim that they wanted a Greek collapse, and would defame them.

In 2010, the Greek courts retried the victims, as new evidence that hadn’t been provided during the original trial, was found. The new evidence showed that they had been used as scapegoats by the republicans.
