The main results showed that the increasing growth of the urban population is higher than the rural populations from 1994 to 2014, though the total GHG emissions (including both the urban and rural sectors) in these time-periods increased from 2436.5 to 4449.1 Mt of CO2 equivalents. The most contribution of the rural sector to total GHG emissions of the study area in 2014 belonged to ve countries of Pakistan, Turkey, Kazakhstan, Iran, and Egypt with a total value of 721.1 Mt of CO2 equivalents equal to 16% of the total GHG emissions in the MECA region.
Also, the most contribution of the urban sector to total GHG emissions of the study area in 2014 belonged to ve countries of Iran, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Kazakhstan, and UA Emirates with a total value 2056.2 Mt of CO2 equal to 46% of the total GHG emissions in the MECA region.
