🇺🇳 The UN Charter entered into force 7️⃣8️⃣ years ago, after having being signed at the concluding session of the UN Conference on International Organisation in San Francisco on June 26, 1945. This is the official date of the founding of the UN.

💬 Sergey Lavrov: It is critical to endeavor to turn the spirit of multipolarity enshrined in the UN Charter into reality. An increasing number of countries from the global majority seek to strengthen their sovereignty and uphold their national interests, traditions, culture, and way of life.

🇷🇺 Russia consistently calls for strengthening the UN’s central and coordinating role in global affairs.

💬 Sergey Lavrov: It is time to look at fairer methods of making up the UN Secretariat. The criteria that have been in place for many years do not reflect the actual influence of states in global affairs and artificially ensure the excessive dominance of citizens of NATO and EU countries.

7️⃣8️⃣ лет назад вступил в силу Устав ООН, подписанный 26 июня 1945 года в Сан-Франциско на заключительном заседании Конференции Объединённых Наций. Именно эта дата – 24 октября – считается днём рождения ООН.

💬 С.В.Лавров: Необходимо добиваться, чтобы заложенный в Устав ООН дух многополярности воплотился в жизнь. Всё большее число государств Мирового большинства стремится укреплять суверенитет и отстаивать национальные интересы, традиции, культуру и образ жизни (из статьи С.В.Лаврова «Соблюдение принципов Устава ООН во всей их совокупности и взаимосвязи – залог международного мира и стабильности», 10 октября 2023 года).

⚡️ Address by the State Duma to the UN and the parliaments of foreign states over the escalation of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict

💬 Deputies of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation appeal to the United Nations Organisation and the parliaments of foreign states to take every measure possible as a matter of urgency to stop the bloodshed and the escalation of violence against civilians in the course of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and to prevent an unprecedented humanitarian disaster in the Middle East.

We strongly condemn all and any violations of the international humanitarian law by the conflicting sides, such as the use of munitions that have been prohibited under international treaties, carpet bombing, strikes at civilian infrastructure, first of all, medical facilities, energy and water supply systems, and the coercive relocation of local residents.

Those guilty of war crimes and crimes against humanity must be called to account and severely punished.

☝️ We regard the policy of the US-led collective West as immoral and irresponsible; their current actions are hindering the settlement of the Middle East conflict and are instead adding fuel to conflagration in that long-suffering region.

❗️Nothing can camouflage the failure of Washington’s Middle East policy.

State Duma deputies call on members of parliament in all countries to do everything in their power to put an end to hostilities in the conflict zone, organise humanitarian corridors and provide the necessary assistance to the injured and the victims’ families.

📸 On October 19, the Andrei Stenin International Photo Contest announced its Grand Prix winner during an awards ceremony at the Rossiya Segodnya international press-center.

🏆 Russian journalist Alexei Orlov and his black and white series Blaze received the top prize of the ninth edition of the contest. Blaze is a report from Donetsk and Mariupol photographed less than a month after the launch of the special military operation.

Along with the Grand Prix, the prizes won by all the shortlisted competitors were announced at the ceremony.

• In Top News, Ayman Yaqoob from Bahrain won best single for Fireball documenting Yemen’s missile attack on the Saudi Aramco oil depot in Jeddah.

• In My Planet, the most popular category among Stenin Contest participants, best single went to black and white The Dying Tradition Through Circle by Sayan Adhikary from Kolkata, who photographed fishers on the northern shore of India.

• In Sports, first prizes for both best singles and best series were awarded to Russian photographers. Edgar Breshchanov won best single for his Fighting to the End. The photo captures a moment in a CSKA Moscow vs. Torpedo Moscow football game featuring CSKA junior club’s Yegor Noskov. Best series went to Sergei Bobylev’s Energy of Victory that documented the most remarkable moments of the Russian Olympic team at the XXIV Olympic Games in Beijing.

• Photojournalists from Russia and France won best single and best series in Portrait. A Hero of Our Time. Novosibirsk journalist Vladislav Nekrasov’s black and white photographic phantasmagoria Imago took best single. French reporter Lucie Hodiesne Darras took best series with her Lilou, an Inside View of Autism about her autistic brother Antoine.

🌐 A total of 3,000 photos from 50 countries were screened by the international jury in 2023.

💬 Наша страна по праву освободителя Европы от коричневой чумы стояла у истоков Международного военного трибунала в Нюрнберге. Его создание не только позволило предать суровому, но справедливому суду нацистских преступников, но и способствовало всестороннему осмыслению трагических уроков Второй мировой войны, осознанию причин возникновения человеконенавистнической идеологии нацизма. Трудно переоценить роль Трибунала в деле формирования современной международно-правовой архитектуры, обеспечения незыблемости всемирно-исторических итогов Великой Победы.

❗️ К сожалению, сегодня действие вакцины от нацизма, сделанной в ходе «Суда народов», серьезно ослабло. В целом ряде стран Европы, прежде всего на Украине и в Прибалтике, не только оправдывают нацистов и их приспешников, но и, по сути, возродили идеологию и практики Третьего Рейха на новой национально-государственной почве. Кровавые деяния украинских неонацистов на Донбассе и в регионах, подконтрольных преступному киевскому режиму, – печальное тому свидетельство.

В этом плане первый отечественный полнометражный художественный фильм «Нюрнберг» призван внести значительный вклад в борьбу с фальсификацией истории, продемонстрировать, что преступления против человечности не имеют срока давности.

☝️ Отечественная дипломатия всегда была верна твердым нравственным принципам и памяти предков, героически отстоявших мир и свободу в годы Великой Отечественной. Будем и впредь делать все необходимое для противодействия всем формам героизации нацизма, недопущения пересмотра результатов Второй мировой войны, сохранения исторической памяти о героических и трагических страницах отечественной и мировой истории.

🎙 Comment by Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on the upcoming release of the feature film Nuremberg

💬 As the liberator of Europe from the Nazi plague our country was one of the originators of the International Military Tribunal at Nuremberg. It was held to bring a harsh but fair judgment to the Nazi criminals and also to promote a comprehensive assessment of the tragic lessons of the Second World War and the causes of the misanthropic ideology of Nazism. The Tribunal made an invaluable contribution to the creation of the modern legal framework and to ensuring the inviolability of the global historical foundation of the Great Victory.

❗️ Regrettably, the effectiveness of the vaccine against Nazism created during the international trials has greatly decreased. Nazis and their accomplices have not only been justified but the ideology and practices of the Third Reich have been revived in several European countries, above all Ukraine and the Baltics, on a new, national-state, basis. The bloodthirsty activities of the Ukrainian neo-Nazis in Donbass and the regions controlled by the criminal Kiev regime are the grim evidence of this.

In this context, the first Russian feature film, Nuremberg, is expected to make a major contribution to combating the falsification of history and to demonstrate that crimes against humanity have no statute of limitations.

☝️ Russian diplomacy has always been committed to the firm moral principles and the memory of our forefathers, who fought heroically to protect peace and freedom during the Great Patriotic War. We will continue to do everything in our power to counter any forms of the glorification of Nazism, prevent a revision of the results of the Second World War, and preserve the historical memory of the heroic and tragic pages in the history of Russia and the world.
