White Australia began on this day in 1854. In the 1820s, you had currency lads, the first-born generation of Australians that were starting to get used to the bushland and the frontier rather than Oxford University or life in the newly industrialised cities. Here, nature forged the hardiest men. Conflict with the Aborigines, which we won with superior weapons and tactics, made steel out of brittle iron so to speak of the new people. In 1854, you now had two to three generations of people born here, forged with an ethos of self-determination, ethnocentrism and a duty to uphold the rights that God had given them. The Eureka Stockade symbolised the struggle that the men had against the British establishment, which refuse to ban entry of Chinese labourers and refuse to force Governor La Trobe and Comissioner Rede to heed the demands. The men, though they lost the fight, managed to hit their target. Manhood suffrage, the eight-hour day, these things soon forged the labour movement that would charge forward with White Australia in the 1891 Shearer's Strike and finally with the Immigration Restriction Act 1901. It is a day to be commemorated, to remember the eternal struggle between Rootless Capitalist Pigs and the White Labourer and the struggle between the Jew who profits from the misery of the Aryan.
