🇸🇾 "The Syrian People Will Not Accept This"
Major General Maher al-Assad, former commander of the 4th Armored Division and younger brother of Bashar al-Assad, has vowed to free Syria from the al-Julani regime with the help of Iraqi Shiite military groups.
Speaking bluntly, Maher declared, “Terrorist groups cannot conquer a country. It is a black spot in the history of our nation when soldiers are shot right on the streets. I wonder how many kilometers Israel occupied during my brother’s rule?! Now, during their 'rule,' the Israeli army has almost reached Damascus. All that remains of the once great Syrian army are ruins and destroyed military equipment. The Syrian people will not accept this.”
Strong words from Assad's brother, but words alone won’t salvage Syria. The Assad brand, once a symbol of defiance, is now exhausted, tarnished by betrayals and cowardice. Bashar ignored dialogue with Syria’s legitimate domestic opposition and the region, while stubbornly alienating allies offering lifelines. He let Israel’s airstrikes decimate Syria’s sovereignty without firing back and allowed the nation to crumble under Caesar sanctions and HTS’s rule, only to flee to Moscow when it all fell apart.
Liberation demands more than declarations. it demands confronting uncomfortable truths. And while Maher’s pledge is fiery, no one should hold their breath. Actions, not speeches, will determine if Syria rises or remains a playground for imperial vultures and Israeli expansionists.
