DAY OF ACTIONPrior to his attack, Stack replaced the empty seats in his plane with additional drums of fuel. An hour before takeoff, Stack set fire to his own $230,000 home. He then drove to the hangar and departed casually, without raising suspicion.
He reached his target 10 mins later and flew full speed into the building, causing a large fireball explosion that severely damaged the building and killed the IRS manager.
