Life is not a game. Life is a war, and we better wage it tenaciously and righteously until the end.

Today is saint James the Apostle day.

The collect:

O gracious God, we remember before thee this day thy servant and apostle James, first among the Twelve to suffer martyrdom for the Name of Jesus Christ; and we pray that thou wilt pour out upon the leaders of thy Church that spirit of self-denying service by which alone they may have true authority among thy people; through the same Jesus Christ our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with thee and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Today is saint Mary Magdalene day.

The collect:

Almighty God, whose blessed Son restored Mary Magdalene to health of body and mind, and called her to be a witness of his resurrection: Mercifully grant that by thy grace we may be healed of all our infirmities and know thee in the power of his endless life; who with thee and the Holy Spirit liveth and reigneth, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Blessed Lord's day brethren! Today is the seventh Sunday after Pentecost.
Every Lord's day I post part of a reformation confession or catechism. This week we have Lords day 11 from the Heidelberg Catechism.

Of God The Son

Lord’s Day 11
Q. Why is the Son of God called “Jesus” meaning “saviour”?
A. Because He saves us from our sins. Salvation cannot be found in anyone else; it is futile to look for any salvation elsewhere.
Isaiah 43:11Matthew 1:21John 15:5Acts 4:11,121 Timothy 2:5Hebrews 7:25.
Q. Do those who look for their salvation and security in saints, in themselves, or elsewhere really believe in the only saviour Jesus?
A. No. Although they boast of being His, by their deeds they deny the only saviour and deliverer, Jesus. Either Jesus is not a perfect saviour, or those who in true faith accept this saviour have in Him all they need for their salvation.
1 Corinthians 1:12,13Galatians 5:4Colossians 1:19,20Colossians 2:101 John 1:7.

They just banned holocaust denial in my country of the Netherlands

If you are looking for a hand sized bible easily portable but still readable and sturdy the trinitarian bible Society classic reference bible hardback is the way to go. It's not expensive and one of my favorites.

Blessed Lord's day brethren! Today is the sixth Sunday after Pentecost.
Every Lord's day I post part of a reformation confession or catechism. This week we have Lords day 10 from the Heidelberg Catechism.

Lord’s Day 10
Q. What do you understand by the providence of God?
A. Providence is the almighty and ever present power of God by which He upholds, as with His hand, heaven and earth and all creatures, and so rules them that leaf and blade, rain and drought, fruitful and lean years, food and drink, health and sickness, prosperity and poverty - all things, in fact, come to us not by chance but from His fatherly hand.
Proverbs 16:33Proverbs 22:2Jeremiah 5:24Jeremiah 23:23,24Matthew 10:29John 9:3Acts 14:15-17Acts 17:24-28Hebrews 1:3.
Q. How does the knowledge of God’s creation and providence help us?
A. We can be patient when things go against us, thankful when things go well, and for the future we can have good confidence in our faithful God and Father that nothing will separate us from His love. All creatures are so completely in His hand that without His will they can neither move nor be moved.
Deuteronomy 8:10Job 1:12,21Job 2:6Psalm 55:22Proverbs 21:1Acts 17:24-28Romans 5:3-5Romans 8:38,391 Thessalonians 5:18James 1:3.

Please welcome our new admin James. He will post whenever he wills.

Blessed Lord's day brethren! Today is the fifth Sunday after Pentecost.
Every Lord's day I post part of a reformation confession or catechism. This week we have Lords day 9 from the Heidelberg Catechism.

Of God The Father
Lord’s Day 9
Q. What do you believe when you say: “I believe in God the Father, almighty, maker of heaven and earth”?
A. That the eternal Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who out of nothing created heaven and earth and everything in them, who still upholds and rules them by His eternal counsel and providence, is my God and Father because of Christ His Son. I trust Him so much that I do not doubt He will provide whatever I need for body and soul, and He will turn to my good whatever adversity He sends me in this sad world. He is able to do this because He is almighty God; He desires to do this because He is a faithful Father.
Genesis 1Genesis 2Genesis 18:14Exodus 20:11Psalm 33:6Psalm 55:22Psalm 104Isaiah 44:24Matthew 6:25,26,30Matthew 7:9-11Matthew 10:29Luke 12:22-31John 1:12,13Acts 4:24Acts 14:15Romans 8:15,16,28,31-39Galatians 4:4-7Ephesians 1:5,11.
