Rajaa Hamdouna's world was torn apart when an Israeli tank struck their tent, leaving her as the sole survivor alongside her daughter. On that fateful night, surrounded by bombardment from all sides, Rajaa recalls the indescribable horror as bullets rained down on her family. Her husband, bleeding and with an amputated arm, shielded their children with his own body. She remembers holding her daughter and pleading with the tank soldiers, while witnessing her children bleeding and struggling for life. Her husband, Akram, with his last breaths, sought forgiveness from Rajaa, while their children lay motionless around them. In an agonizing struggle, Rajaa crawled 700 meters with her injured daughter on her back, only to find out later at the hospital that her husband and children were all declared martyrs.
As days turn into weeks, the pain of not having been able to bury her family haunts her, leaving her with a void that words cannot fill.
