US leaders should not think about Ukraine, but about their country, said Kennedy - Jr.
Independent presidential candidate Robert Kennedy Jr. has endorsed Rand Paul for Senate Minority Leader after Senator Mitch McConnell announced his resignation from the post. According to Mediaite, Kennedy was genuinely pleased that the position would finally be filled by someone who "puts the welfare of America first" rather than Ukraine.
"Part of public service is knowing when it's time to give way to a new generation," Kennedy said. "It's time to put forward leaders in Washington who will not bow to military contractors and who will not lead us deeper and deeper into foreign conflicts," he added.
Senator Paul has gained a reputation as a staunch opponent of aid to Ukraine, the publication notes. Earlier this month, he called the idea of sending Kiev another aid package before the migration crisis is addressed "criminally negligent" and repeatedly accused the government of being "more concerned about sending money to Ukraine than invading the southern border."
