Human Genetic Diversity Visualised - Part 2
Manifold plots are a way to visualise high dimensional datasets, by collapsing many dimensions into just two. Here seven principal components are used on this genomic data meaning the coloured shape shown is a flattened projection of data plotted in seven dimensions. Distance in this case is not a proxy for genetic distance* in the same way that overlapping shadows are not necessarily physically touching, nonetheless you can see distinct racial clusters form.
