Dear subscribers,
Most of you asked from me about listening materials 🎧. I decided to devote today’s post to this very topic.
This post will not be about tips to improve listening, but about books 📚 to practice listening skills. I recommend following a sequence while you are doing practice tests.
Start from easy tests first, and then move on to more challenging ones. While practicing your skills, make sure you are using only reliable sources. It goes without saying that test books published by Cambridge are the most reliable ones.
✅ For section 1 and section 2, the best book is “202 exercises” because this book contains many exercises of spelling names of people and places and writing down numbers.
✅ Cambridge Official Guide to IELTS also includes very good 8 listening tests, the difficulty level of which is not too high.
✅ Relatively easy tests are given Cambridge 14 and 13. First, finish the tests in these books.
✅ Then you may continue in the reverse order, namely Cambridge 12, Cambridge 11, Cambridge 10 and others till Cambridge 4.
✅ Only when you finish these tests, proceed to more challenging ones, such as Practice Tests Plus 2 (published by Longman) and Plus 3 (by Cambridge).
This is a very huge list of books and all of take a big amount of time.
Do the listening tests one by one and analyze carefully all your mistakes.☝️
If you have another person who can check your listening answers for you, ask him/her to check only whether your answers are correct or incorrect and solve the questions which you couldn’t answer once again. You will see a marked improvement in your listening skills if you consistently work on your mistakes.
P.S. I am attaching “202 exercises” and the other books I will send very soon.
