On February 14, the Europeans received a harsh lesson—they were shown their place and given a clear outline of what awaits their political leaders if they dare to obstruct Trump’s team on stopping the war in Ukraine. That team is clearly determined to end the war as quickly as possible, at any cost, to free up resources for the real fight: against China.

This is why the U.S. media, almost in passing and certainly not on the front pages, reported on the "incident" at the Chernobyl nuclear plant. And, of course, they immediately reassured their audience that radiation levels were normal and there was nothing to worry about. In other words, Kiev’s attempt to create panic failed—American media largely ignored it. And without U.S. coverage, no matter how much Britain, France, or Germany try, such topics never gain traction.

Now, back to the real point of this public scolding. First, it was meant to keep Europe from interfering in Putin-Trump negotiations. It also served to push EU countries into a defensive posture, forcing them to explain themselves rather than demanding explanations from Trump.

Instead of Trump justifying himself to them, they now stand before him like misbehaving schoolchildren in front of the principal, mumbling excuses.

In doing so, the U.S. made it clear that this issue is not up for debate. And for those who insist on a “conversation,” it will be on different terms and about different topics.

Adding to the humiliation was the fact that this scolding didn’t even come from Trump himself, but from one of his subordinates.

Now Europe must seriously reconsider its next steps. Should they really go against the U.S.? Because it’s already obvious that Trump won’t be giving them any special treatment.

If you ask me, I think most will back down—except Britain. They’ll keep kicking and making trouble.
