3 major events that turned 13 Aban into a symbolic day for Iranians

13th of Aban [November 4th] is a symbolic day which contains a multitude of meanings and lessons about dependence on America, American greed, and the firm resistance, faith, and presence of our youth against an America that had been made to look formidable.

First: 13 Aban 1343 [November 4, 1964]: Our magnanimous Imam (ra) was forced into exile after he gave a speech in Qom, demanding a national right: the annulment of the oppressive legal immunity [granted to American soldiers] called Capitulation:

Since our country at the time was dependent on America and acted as an American mercenary, the satanic Pahlavi regime had gradually allowed American agents (political, security, military) to enter the country. Then, they approved a law in parliament at the time which granted them legal immunity: they could not be prosecuted by Iranian courts, judiciary and security organizations. When foreigners are allowed to enter a country to do whatever they like [without consequence], it shows that the country is suffering from an extreme form of weakness and dependence.

The greed of Americans: If a nation fails to defend its rights and honor, arrogant and colonial powers will impose such oppressive laws as legal immunity on that nation. This is the goal of the hegemony of the arrogant powers. The relations between a government such as America and a country that does not have as much power as America cannot be like relations between two ordinary countries. No, from the perspective of the Americans, these are master-subject relationships, with America as the master.

Second: On the same day in 1357 [1978], our youth – university and high school students – entered the arena, protesting the Shah’s regime at the University of Tehran campus, and were massacred by the mercenary killers of America. Many were martyred.

Finally: On 13 Aban 1358 [1979], our youth once again entered the arena and brought America to its knees. This is not a slogan, it’s the truth. The den of spies – the embassy of the US – was captured, and those inside were held hostage. The main elements of the embassy remained hostage for a long time, and the American President resorted to a covert military attack, mobilizing spies and mercenaries and attacking our country with their helicopters. The plan was to regroup in Tabas, go to Tehran, rescue the hostages and take them to America. But the famous event happened in Tabas, and Allah the Exalted destroyed their prestige: their planes and helicopters caught fire, and they were forced to return to America from Tabas.
