(Part 1/2)
Today I want to share an excerpt with you all from an early modern Yevanic (Judeo-Greek) hymn praising God, beginning with the line אַקְשְיֵי קֵידִינַאמוֹמֵינֵי, transcribed into Greek as "Ἄξιε καὶ δυναμωμένε", meaning "O worthy and strengthened".
🕎 The original text in Yevanic reads
ʾel raḥman
ʾel raḥman
🇺🇸 English Translation
‘The land shakes in front of You.
Your strong mountains
Merciful God
Are trembling at Your glance...
You have created everything in couples,
[So that] a male will take a female
Merciful God
[And] a lass [will be coupled] with a lad
