Baltic States Approve Exit from Russian Power Grid by February 8, 2025
The Belarus-Russia-Estonia-Latvia-Lithuania energy ring, in operation since 2001, is coming to an end as the Baltic states have decided to venture on their own.
The decision marks a significant shift, as the Baltics disconnect from affordable Russian electricity.
As shown on the graph, electricity prices in the Baltics before the disconnection were already high. Starting in February, the Baltic states will challenge Germany for the title of the highest electricity costs in the EU.
