NEW: ICE Boston announces two more arrests in Massachusetts, including a Salvadoran MS-13 gang member who was protected by sanctuary policies in MA, & a Dominican illegal alien charged w/ child molestation-sexual assault in Rhode Island who was found & arrested by ICE in MA.

Case 1: Jose Luis Castro Jovel, a confirmed Salvadoran MS-13 gang member, was convicted of assault in Northampton, MA. ICE placed a detainer request on him with the Northampton District Court, but it was ignored and he was released into the community without notification to ICE. ICE found & arrested him on a public road in Northampton.

Case 2: Belardis Tapia Gonzalez, a Dominican illegal alien who entered the U.S. in July 2021, is charged with child molestation-sexual assault in Rhode Island. ICE Boston found & arrested him in Lynn, MA on Monday.

 We recently celebrated the distinguished career of Assistant Sheriff Holly Francisco, who has been an exceptional leader in our department for over three decades.

Assistant Sheriff Francisco began her impressive career as a law enforcement technician, before promoting to deputy sheriff, where she served at both Sybil Brand Institute and Carson Sheriff’s Station. After advancing to sergeant, she worked at Century Regional Detention Facility, Carson Sheriff’s Station, and West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station. Her career continued to flourish as she advanced to lieutenant, serving at the Inmate Reception Center, Compton Sheriff’s Station, Homicide Bureau, and Major Crimes Bureau. Her dedication to service led to her promotion to captain, where she made a significant impact at the Narcotics Bureau. She then promoted to commander before becoming an assistant sheriff.

With her extensive knowledge and dedication, she will be greatly missed.

Thank you, Assistant Sheriff Francisco, and enjoy your well deserved retirement!

It is with profound sadness that we share the loss of two of our own: Corporal Luis Paez & Deputy Sheriff Ralph “Butch” Waller. Both were tragically struck and killed by a driver on Southern Blvd while conducting traffic enforcement.

Deputy Ignacio “Dan” Diaz was also critically injured in the crash and is currently fighting for his life. Our hearts are heavy as we mourn the loss of our brothers, honor their memory, and support their families during this devastating time.

Santa Monica police released dramatic body camera and surveillance video on Thursday showing a knife-wielding man attacking an officer outside the front door of the police station.

The incident unfolded the evening of Oct. 5 when, according to police, Deyaa Abdelhadi Halaibeh, 28, first assaulted an employee at the Target store on 420 Broadway and ran away with a knife set.

Halaibeh then walked a short distance to the police station on Olympic Drive, where he rang the call button to speak to an officer, security video shows.
