On November 16, diplomatic relations between the USSR and the USA were established.
On November 16, 1933, in Washington, in the Oval Office of the White House, the People's Commissar for Foreign Affairs of the USSR Maxim Litvinov and U.S. President Franklin Roosevelt announced the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. Alexander Troyanovsky became the first ambassador of the USSR to the USA in 1933.
