Seeking excellent hardcore Sci-fi

In 1999 I stumbled upon Alastair Reynolds Revelation Space and was immediately hooked. I experienced moments in his books where the words and page disappeared and I was immersed within a movie in my mind. I've read all his work and am finally tired of him however. I love Science fiction and would love your suggestions. I've read the Expanse series recently, along with Iain M Banks and Peter F Hamilton. I found Red Blue and Green Mars boring by the end and didn't finish them. Never got into Dune, though would be willing to try again. What epic series have I been missing? Please blow my mind. No fantasy though! Rune stones are for chumps.

Historical romcom à la Jane Austen?

Any /old/ books with the same style as Jane Austen's books? When I see "if you liked Pride and Prejudice" recommendations, it would usually just be other romance classics, but I didn't really enjoy Wuthering Heights and Jane Eyre as much as I would have liked to. I guess I'd like more of Austen's humor and wit, and sweet romance instead of the heavy gothic type. Thank you!

(I also read Little Women and really liked it :))

Mastermind protagonists

I'm looking for fiction novels with characters who are strategic masterminds and planners.

Examples of similar books I've read:
1. Six of Crows duology (Kaz Brekker)
2. Cursed Prince trilogy (Jude)

Thanks in advance!

Suggest me a book featuring a masked vigilante

OK! I'm in love with the concept of a masked vigilante whose identity is hidden till the middle or end of the book. Is there any such book where we don't know the identity of the vigilante in the beginning itself?

Aesthetic and Dreamy Books with soft Sci-Fi or Fantasy Elements?

I’m trying to compile a list of books to read in 2021, and the title is basically the common theme I can find between books I’ve enjoyed in the past.

Some of my favourite books of al time include:
LOTR,
Life of Pi,
Never Let me Go,
Lolita,
Watership Down,
Wuthering Heights,
Kafka of the Shore,
Watchmen,

I also tend to like books about young people that aren’t necessarily YA. I usually prefer books with at least one female main character, she doesn’t have to be the narrator/protagonist though.

Suggest Me A Book with a world that mixes science and magic

A lot of the things that make modern society today possible are gifts of science.

I'll admit what I'm going for is a little vague, but I'm hoping to find a book in which magic is used in the way that we use science now, or *both* science and magic are used in the way we use science now.

Anything come to mind?

books like Breaking Bad?

I really like the crime and drama of the show, and would like to read literature with the same elements.

What appealed to me in the show was the logostics of everything from the deals, police investigations, and complex schemes, but also the psychological aspect. The emotional and mental state of each character and the changes they underwent were really powerful and interesting. Delving into the twisted and tragic depths of the human psyche in general is really fascinating to me.

Books with characters like John the Savage from Brave New World

Meaning a futuristic setting with characters who chose to live the "old way"

Unsettling, eerie books?

I am not looking for pure horror or pure thrillers. Anything works as long as it gets under your skin and leaves you under its dark spell. Thanks a lot!

Book you absolutely couldn’t put down

In honor of my cake day, drop suggestions of the first book that comes to mind that you literally couldn’t put down and ignored all obligations for. Thanks in advance!

Edit: obviously I have my own preferences but this can be any genre, just a book that completely hooked you that you want someone else to read

A book on going from good to great

I feel I'm doing pretty good so far in many aspects of life, to get this far I started doing really bad and was inspired by many books to learn things that helped me have a more fulfilling life.

Now, I'd like to take it a step further, instead of just getting by on deadlines and doing what it takes to have a decent life I'd like to have the motivation or energy to take on more extra projects during my free time.

Biographies are preferrable, I really enjoy autobiographys especially.

Could you suggest me a book with characters that may have BPD (borderline personality disorder)?

I like reading books with this vibe when I am sad.

Suggest me a book that's sci fi or fantasy related especially if I've never read these genres before

Additional info: I'd like to do more reading as a way to stop using social media devices or the internet, especially at night before I sleep.

I'm a fan of the genre but only from watching shows and movies . Would like to find something that isn't too difficult to follow and would like to spend an hour a night on. Thank you.

Do you have a favorite author? Want to find new authors similar to them without the work? Literature-Map.com is awesome for that.

I found this website a few months ago, and use it when I’m looking for author is similar to one that I really like. It basically makes a diagram with authors who write in a comparable style in about similar subjects, and the closer the other authors are to the center, the more similar they are in the more you might enjoy them. I have used it to find lots and lots of great books that I didn’t see on Goodread’s “readers also enjoyed” tab.

suggest me a book on india's caste system... or any book on a country with an interesting history

I think I want to branch out more instead of reading fiction all the time, and thought this might be interesting.

I don't know if these types of books exist, but do you recommend books that teach you about mental models, or how to think?

I remember being told that college doesn't really teach you how to think (though I digress, that could be complete nonsense). I also remember being told, via the Internet, that you should learn to think for yourself.

My guilty admission is that on both fronts, I admittedly don't know how.

Do you guys recommend any books that might perhaps divulge this? I know there isn't one universal way so I'm expecting a variety of answers. That's fine.

Thanks!

Historical fiction book like Peaky Blinders, but with a decent romance.

I typically like historical fiction books that are led by women and have a plot where the societal norms are a conflict for what the character needs. I also like it from the POV of a poor person (I don't really like reading about rich people).

The romance is something I'm interested in. I really like historical fiction, but there aren't many historical romances around that aren't bodice rippers, which is not what I'm into.

I guess I don't really mind sex being in the book (explicit sex I do mind a bit) when it affects the plot or characters. Not Porn Without Plot.

I love Peaky Blinders. I love how it's so driven by plot and I love the villainous protagonist. But I'm looking for that kind of feel, not exactly like that.

Any more questions, let me know.
