There are those for whom questioning everything is a moral or epistemological duty, and they exhibit humility by including in their intelligently hyper-reflexive interrogation their own motives in 'questioning everything.' Others, on the other hand, do so disingenuously, as they do not wish to be perceived as wrong and therefore call into question everyone else in being right. This is the ‘philosophical ego’ at its worst, and a form of sophistry that reveals next to nothing of value about the nature of things, and everything about the fragility and vanity of the human ego.

My observation is that when someone questions everything except why they feel the need to do so, they are engaging in a tactic of an insecure ego.
