In Krasnodar, a man who stabbed his elderly neighbors and received 18 years in prison was sent to the SMO [special military operation] straight from the courtroom.
Aleksandr Steshuk was found guilty of murder, robbery, theft and arson. In 2021, he broke into the yard of an elderly couple and killed them with a knife. The man then took valuables, 140 thousand rubles [$1,400] and set fire to the house to cover his tracks. The Krasnodar Regional Court sentenced him to 18 years in prison, and then considered the petition of the head of the military service selection point.
